Press Release Summary: BSEC 2008 - the only Indo-international exhibition and conference dedicated entirely to border and homeland security, will take place in November 2008 as part of the cluster of defence and national security mega-events also including NECE 2008 and MSI 2008.
Press Release Body: APRIL 2008, NEW DELHI: Informa, the owners of information super-brands including Lloyd's List and Datamonitor - in association with its Knowledge Partner, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), India's premier strategic think-tank - have launched India's first large-scale exhibition focused on border and homeland defence and security.
BSEC 2008, which will be held in India in November, is a 3 day international exhibition, co-located with six other major defence & national security events including the 2-day BSEC Conference and the Defence and National Security (DNS) Leadership Summit. The event will bring together a large number of end users and buyers from Indian and international border, internal & industrial security forces; coast guards; federal & state police forces; airports, immigration & disaster management authorities; governments and other key homeland security associations. The event is being launched after several months of research conducted by Informa in India, the US, Europe, Asia and other key regions. According to General V.P. Malik, former Chief of the Army Staff "geo-politically and strategically, India enjoys a unique centrality in the security zone of South Asia. Its 3.1 million square kilometers territory has land borders with six countries, covering approximately 15,500 kilometers. It has special ties with each of her neighbours: of ethnicity, language, culture, common historical experience, or of shared access to and dependence upon vital natural resources. Although there are no serious boundary problems with neighbours other than China and Pakistan, there are many border issues like trans-border secessionists' sanctuaries, terrorism, immigration, gun-running and narcotics, which affect regional security." BSEC 2008 will allow leading solution providers to showcase key technologies and methodologies that would be relevant to an audience of senior decision-makers from Indian and international buyer and end user communities. General Malik adds that "technologies in electronics, sensors, micro processors, aviation and robotics have the capability to upgrade and extend the reach of border surveillance and security; thus making it more effective and reducing manpower requirements substantially".
BSEC 2008 places a major focus on current and future Indian plans and requirements, and also attracts end users and buyers from virtually every noteworthy defence market within Asia, the Middle East (Gulf region), Europe and the Americas, including major countries such as the United States, the UK, Germany, France, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Russia, UAE, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia as well as important emerging markets such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Brazil and Vietnam.
"Both the BSEC 2008 exhibition and conference will provide a much needed and highly focused platform to facilitate information exchange and networking between the Indian and international homeland and border security communities," adds Michelle Dencer-Brown, International Group Director of Informa India's Defence & National Security Division.
